Counties map
Politically, Ireland is made up from the "Republic of Ireland" in the southern (roughly 3/4) part of the island, and Northern Island, which is (historically) annexed to Great Britain, towards the north east.

There are 32 counties grouped into four Irish provinces; Ulster, Munster, Connaught and Leinster. These roughly split the island into four quarters. The six counties of Northern Ireland are all part of the province of Ulster.
